Yogurt & spinach dip

Yogurt & spinach dip (Borani)

300 grams fresh spinach chopped

1 cup Greek yogurt

1 tsp garlic powder or 1 garlic clove (minced)

1 tbsp olive oil

Dried mint for garnish (to complete the beautiful, earthy and woodsy look and flavour)

Handful crushed walnuts

Salt and pepper

Recipe

Borani is a vegetarian appetizer that usually serves with bread or simply by itself. It’s delicious, easy and totally addictive. The borani we are doing today calls for a lot of spinach and some garlic and is packed with flavours.

What I love the most about this recipe is that it’s very simple and it’s very healthy as spinach is a great source of iron and yogurt is one of the best sources of probiotics and calcium.

Recipe:

Place the spinach in a pan over medium low heat until they’re wilted and have released excess water. Drain well, make sure to get all the liquid out. Chop fine. Let it cool and then mix it with Greek yogurt, minced garlic, salt and pepper. Leave it in the fridge for about 10-15 minutes. Sprinkle it with crushed walnuts and it’s ready! You can serve it with pita bread, lavash or crackers.
