Sumac
Rhus coriaria commonly known as Sumac is a bright red spice that grows in subtropical and temperate regions throughout the world, especially in East Asia, Africa, and North America. The flavour crosses between lemonade and berry juice. This versatile can be added to Middle Eastern spreads like hummus and baba ganoush or Persian and Turkish kebabs. Sumac blends perfectly well with other spices due to its diverse flavour profile. It’s also used in Middle Eastern Za’atar.
